Team Structure

The London accounts team currently comprises of 40 employees and is headed up by Simon Griffith, the Director of Accounts, who reports into Hamedeh Ghobadian, Chief Financial Officer. The team is made up of several discrete sections: management accounts; purchase ledger; partners' personal accounting; pricing and commercial; credit control; cashiering and billing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Production of Office and Client account cheques
  • Banking of Office and Client account cheque receipts
  • Processing Client to Office transfers
  • Posting of investment account interest
  • Preparing bank reconciliations for Client & Office accounts daily (multiple currencies)
  • Preparing monthly Reconciliation of Investment accounts and consolidated Client accounts
  • Preparing daily bank balances
  • Using our online banking system (RBS - Bankline) for internal transfers and foreign supplier payments
  • Running monthly interest calculations for management accounts
  • Running ad-hoc interest calculations as required
  • Preparing petty cash and foreign currency ordering and reconciliations
  • Allocation of Client and Office Receipts
  • Processing Client payments (via Intapp Open)
  • Providing general holiday cover for other members of the Cashiering team
  • Daily filing of documents/emails in "imanage" document filing system
  • Assist with the review of residual client balances and clearing them
  • Office Credits/Unpaid Costs Report/Negative Unbilled Soft Costs Report – Daily checking
  • Assisting with audit queries and supporting information requests

Attributes/Skills Required

  • Proven legal cashiering experience
  • Working knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Aderant knowledge would be advantageous but not essential
  • Excel knowledge
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Good attention to detail
  • Well organised, team player with a flexible and willing attitude
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships
